I am not a “supporter” of Count Dankula in any way. His comedy style, from the limited quantity I have seen, seems to appeal to a very low denominator. None of it is anything that should be illegal. The conviction and verdict for the “crime” he committed were certifiable. Anyone who is that easily offended needs to seek professional help in order to help them deal with the stress. This is serious because there’s no reason why the video Count Dankula made should cause anyone but a Holocaust survivor so much distress.
If anyone reading this doesn’t already know what happened, Count Dankula was convicted of making a video where he trained his girlfriend’s dog to make Nazi salutes whenever he said “Gas the Jews.” As someone who is part of a race that was murdered in the tens of millions by the Nazis, I think the joke is slightly funny. I wouldn’t normally watch videos like that because they’re usually juvenile, but that doesn’t mean they should be illegal. I don’t need to be patronized by regressive pseudo-marxists getting offended on my behalf.
One reason why this whole incident is truly infuriating is because there are real pseudo-psychopathic people online who need to be put in prison for their online actions. These include people who post personal information to direct online hate mobs against their victims to get them fired or even to bully them into suicide. Such campaigns can lead to identity theft and life long financial ruin. Instead, law enforcement is directing their efforts and prosecuting people for being offensive in a terrible miscarriage of online justice.
